Jaime Rourke '15 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Jaime Rourke and I'm currently a Grade 11 student at Hatzic Secondary School in Mission, BC, Canada, preparing to graduate January 2015. My passion has always been to attend University to get a good education and to play a competitive sport at the same time. I have played high school and club volleyball at a high level for four years and it has been my biggest passion. I love to compete and work hard on my game all year-round.
My club season with Force Volleyball Club has just finished with fantastic results. Our team just recently competed in the Canadian National Championships in Edmonton Alberta on May 9-11, 2014 and lost 25-17, 17-25, 16-18 in the gold medal match, placing 2nd in Canada. Even though the loss was tough, our biggest accomplishment was defeating the 1st and 2nd place ranked teams (Shock and Forest City) during the tournament. We placed 4th last year at 16u nationals. Our ability to win 2 point sets under pressure has developed the mental toughness necessary for us to consistently win at the highest level. We were Bronze medalists in Div 1 Tier 1 at BC Provincial Championships this year, we were 1st place at both Super Series tournaments, we place 10th out of 144 teams at the Las Vegas Classic, and we had high placements at various other tournaments during our season. I was a starting outside hitter throughout the entire season. I have been a starter for all four years in both school and club and have been awarded All-Star and MVP on many occasions. I was also one of the top 12 athletes to compete in the Provincial Summer Games in 2012 where we placed 2nd. It was an experience of a lifetime. I have a high kill shot percentage with great speed and placement control and I have been the top serve receiver on all of my teams. I strongly believe I can compete at a very competitive University level as I have a strong work ethic, very eager to learn, great leadership skills, and have proven to be a great teammate. Academically, I have good study habits with a strong career focus to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree. My current GPA is a 3.0 and I’m working hard to increase this. I will also be writing my SATs soon. I'm contacting you because I'm very interested in attending your school and would love the opportunity to talk to you. My other interests and activities include playing beach volleyball, working out at the gym, running, swimming, and playing the drums. I also love criminology, volunteering as the junior volleyball assistant coach at school, and going to my church youth group.
