When I started playing volleyball in 2022, I instantly fell in love with the sport. Being in an area where greatness happens, pushes me to become the role models I've looked up to. This includes making a safe place for my peers at school, being a supportive and dedicated teammate, and being a well-rounded student-athlete. But as I became part of the game, I knew I wanted to play college volleyball.
Some background about me is that I go to Woodrow Wilson in Long Beach, California and my career pathway is WAVE. In this pathway, you don't necessarily have a career-focused study course, so I'm taking AP, accelerated, and honors classes to gain credits! The benefit of this is that I have a consistent study schedule, become better at time management, and be disciplined in my studies. As far as extra-curricular activities, I am a part of YBS (Young Black Scholars) at my school. The vision for YBS is to break the stereotype of Black students not being as successful as other minorities. Here, I am in the process of running for 2026 Class Representative! I am also in the running for ASB, Governor of Activites. I am passionate about these roles because I have a goal to positively impact my peers, whether it's to plan school activities or to encourage African-American students that we can do it too.
To conclude, my goals for volleyball are to develop myself with a group of people who are eager to do the same and add to a supporting, exciting, disciplined, and fun environment in and outside the volleyball courts. To manage these two highly time-consuming projects, I hope to manage better in time management by the time I graduate high school.
