Personal Statement

My name is Cameron Cayabyab and I attend Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in San Francisco, CA.  I will be graduating in 2024.

I‘m a hard working and competitive student athlete that knows what it takes to succeed academically and on the volleyball court.  I do well in my classes and participate in many co-curricular activities at school.  My goal is to pursue a degree in Biology or Science, and I aspire to play volleyball at the collegiate level.

I’m a Libero/DS for my high school and club volleyball teams. I love hustling for that perfect pass and dig, and enjoy the challenge of predicting where the ball will go. Most of all, I love being part of a great team.

I hope you enjoy my highlight videos and I look forward to speaking with you soon!

  • Coach Comments: “ I think you show a great work ethic and you treat others around you really well. Also, you were really easy to talk to even though we only had a few brief conversations. These are all things we are looking for in student-athletes to build the program! As for the volleyball component, here are some keys. Continue to work on your service pressure, I need you to continue working on making early reads in serve receive. The best at our level use all available information and make movements before the ball is crossing the net. Further, the mentality of leading our backrow is something we are really looking for in future liberos. I saw glimpses of consistency in backrow leadership - which is totally okay! It is hard to be 100% on fire with communication with a group of people you don't know.”

  • https://mycamp.exactsports.com/pr_share/57812/93e5597f-aeed-48d2-b317-7520e0641158 Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 95 / 100 Passing - Creates opportunities for teammates with accurate passes. Rarely over passes or shanks/miss contacts the ball. Defense - Aggressive as a defender. Good read on the attack and defensive positioning, and seems to enjoy making the play. Tactical Abilities - 92 / 100 Vision - Court vision is very good. Constantly checking spacing and court positioning to put herself in a great position to make the play. Reading The Game - Does well seeing the play before it happens and reading the other team to help put herself in a good position on the court. Physical Abilities - 92 / 100 Speed - Great speed overall, in particular with footwork to get into position. Will be an important asset going forward. Agility - Showed good agility. Good body positioning and footwork helped you change directions quickly. Mental Abilities - 89 / 100 Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Team Player - Great team-first attitude. Was encouraging and supportive to teammates throughout camp. Coach's Comments - Cameron is a great athlete with a very good skill set, especially for someone her age. She has great ball control, as well as the ability to read the game on defense and passing. She is very mature and level headed. As a 2024 grad she still has time to further develop her confidence and leadership skills. By building up your lower body strength you can increase your explosiveness and thus making it easier for you to make plays on defense. You have a great skill set and I think being more vocal on the court can take your game to the next level. As a libero you want to take control of passing and defense. Again, as mentioned previously I think you have the skillset to lead on the court you just have to have the mindset.
