McKenna Edwards '24 Recruiting Profile

“There is always someone who is better than you.” This quote will be forever engraved in my heart by my father. In many ways, this quote helped me challenge myself both academically and athletically. I was lucky to be gifted with my athletic ability, but even though something's do tend to come easy to me it doesn’t mean I slack off. I try my best to work to one hundred percent everyday even if I’m tired or sore. The second half of the quote is, "but no one will work harder than you". I take that to heart because to me it means no matter how much talent one person may have, if they do not put effort into it than they will hit a roadblock down the road. I believe this makes me a different athlete than the rest, because I never want to stop, I always want to do two more hours of practice or 100 more setting reps. That is how much I love the sport; I don’t play for the jersey but I play because it is fun and gives me a place to forget about whatever happened during the day and just be able to focus on something I love to do.  Playing volleyball isn’t a hobby but a skill that I can use to help me balance life after college because being able to balance your academics and athletics in highschool and college will help you learn the basics of life.
