College volleyball is something I really want to pursue because it’s something in my life that I love doing 100%. I’ve been struggling to find something I really enjoy when it comes to academics, school, and choosing what career path to take. Playing sports since childhood, I started playing tennis at age 5 and found that I was more interested with the game of volleyball in middle school. Going through Xceleration Volleyball Club, Summer Volleyball Camps, school team try-outs, and tournaments, I developed the love for volleyball because it suited me better. Volleyball is fun, exciting, gives me a boost of serotonin, and more opportunities of year-round play. Volleyball is one of the very few things that I’ll always play whether I’m very stressed or busy, because it makes me happy.
I aim to be a college athlete and achieve to get a college degree playing volleyball. Given the chance, I know that this will give me life skills and prepare me for the opportunities and challenges in life during and after college. Winning and losing volleyball matches taught me to never give up and to continue training harder. It taught me the value of team play and to respect the decisions of coaches and teammates. Competing in volleyball taught me that it’s mostly hard work, proper training, and teamwork that wins games. This is a valuable lesson I can apply in life and on how I should interact with others on and off the court.
