Personal Statement
All through out my life I have lived by the phrase, “I can do all things that I put my mind to”. When my hitting structure was not effective because of my lack of wrist strength, over time I used that phrase to help me succeed. After practice I reviewed my approaches with my coach. I continued to work on my foot speed and hitting to become a stronger and more efficient hitter. I also use this knowledge to encourage my teammates to strive and never give up. This attitude and team spirit has made us a more cohesive, determined, and successful players.
Another thing that sets me apart from other athletes is that I try to set an example of confidence and Christian-like sportsmanship for my teammates. Being the oldest member on the Junior Varsity team, I help them with their homework before and after games so that they are able to focus and succeed not only in athletics but also academics. I also strive to go above and beyond my athletic duties by volunteering to complete tasks that other players on sports teams do not usually do such as cleaning the vans.
With this mindset, I developed more confidence and determination going into Varsity Volleyball season, my last time playing for high school. I have learned that I must not ever give up, that even if my I make mistakes I must move on and push forward. Thats exactly what I did I proved to everyone that I could improve my weakness and be stronger than ever. Also with covid, and on having 4 games per week, I managed to keep good grades with all A's and a 4.2 GPA for 12th grade. During my sport season I always made sure that Im on task and organized because I want to be the best. I believe in myself and I am determined to excel on and off the court.
What I have learned in life is, even with the many set backs I had with being a premature baby weighing 1 lb. 15 ounces , is that life is short but we must fight through the battles. One thing that always help me during this season is I always say the phrase "Never Give Up". The reason why, is because I fought for my life , and knowing me I will always fight in the game, and give it my all to ensure we win, and if we don't it pleases me to know that I tried. One thing that also set me apart is I love to cheer on my teammates and always comfort them on and off the court and encourage them because we are like family. So, I lead by example on and off the court. This mindset is what motivates me throughout the day and makes me become a stronger and more efficient athlete.
