Personal Statement
Volleyball is my passion! I started playing at the age of 11 and was immediately hooked! I knew this sport would become part of my life’s journey. Playing volleyball has taught me discipline, time management and people skills. By the end of my junior year, I will have played six years of school volleyball and four years of club volleyball. It is my desire to play volleyball at the college level and perhaps beyond. I know this requires dedication and determination, and I am more than ready for the challenge. I am looking for a school that strongly supports my athletic as well as my academic success.
I am a player that is coachable and willing to do whatever is necessary to become a better volleyball player and teammate. I am labeled as a Middle Blocker/Right Side hitter, but I am always working on being a great All-around player.
I am the middle girl child, born to Richard and Michelle Washington. My sisters are Richelle 25 and Mikayla 11. My parents taught us to maximize every moment, take advantage of every opportunity and be thankful for everything. I can confidently say, I took my parents’ advice and I have the resume to show for it. I don’t consider myself “privileged”, but what I have been able to accomplish with what little I have, proves heed to the advice given.
I am currently a junior at Miami Country Day School in Miami, Florida. I will be graduating in spring of 2020. I work hard to balance my school, volleyball and social life. I have traveled to various parts of the world, including South Africa, Italy, Switzerland and Spain. I am culturally savvy! I have also been to many cities throughout the United States. I am flexible to play anywhere in the country; maybe even outside of the country!
I would love the opportunity further discuss my volleyball and academic future.
