My volleyball career started when I was a freshman in high school. I didn’t play very often at the beginning because I was new to the sport and there were 4 seniors on my team. I started as a middle my Sophomore year and was the tallest girl on the court. My Junior year I was the eldest on the court. Having no seniors to lead and look up to, I knew I had to step up my game and really prove that I can handle all the responsibility’s an older player would have.
Going into my senior year now, I will be the team captain, I’ll also continue being a role model for the girls off the court. This year I received the 'Stingray Pride' award for helping out with younger teams at my school and leading my own team to district finals, which was further than we thought we would go considering we were such a young team. I also received the 'Leadership Lane' award.
I would always tell the girls play with heart before every game, fight for every point and that’s what they did. Although I haven’t been playing for that long, I know the game and I truly believe I have yet to reach my full potential.
