Ashelyn Jones '15 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Ashelyn-Lorraine Jones and I am a 6'0 junior at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been playing club volleyball since the age of 11. I have been on Roosevelt's Varsity from my sophomore year as their OH. I currently play club volleyball for Team Piko with my Head Coach Lehua Kadooka. I've been with Piko from my freshman year in 2010 and we entered as a 15's team. We took 9th place in the Club division. 

I am a very well-rounded athlete with a lot of spirit. When we went up to Japan in March 2013 to train with the Japanese High Schools, I was always the first to "break the ice". I would make sure that all of my teammates including our younger girls were mingling and talking stories with the Japanese players and just having a good time and enjoying the experience. Volleyball isn't my only sport. I played basketball from a young age and I did track from my freshman year. I learn fast and catch on fast as well.

Academics I am an average "B" or "C" student. I participate in class and I do my work. My grades could be and will be better. As a student-athlete I always want to make sure I keep up with both. Tutoring and going in for extra help are always my first choice. I want to study Health and Nutrition kind of like a doctor or someone who specializes in bones and nutrition in college. 

Off and On the court I am always doing my job in contributing to the team whether it is being supportive while on the sideline or doing my job as a student by keeping my grades up or getting on my teammates to make sure that they are doing their part, I am always on top of things and giving my 100% into everything I set out to do and I have fun while I do it.
