My name is Sarah Shambaugh. I intend to play volleyball in college while pursuing schooling that will lead me to career in the medical world. As a volleyball player my career has not always been easy. The biggest issue that I had to overcome was my own mindset. With careful consideration and support from family and coaches I have overcome some of the fixed mindset I had growing up. I now see that everything is a learning experience which makes me a better player and person.
I was originally homeschooled and then attended a public charter school that challenged me to learn how to manage my time in order to accomplish all the things I want to do like volleyball, school, and work. Time management is a challenge for any student athlete and the charter school did an outstanding job of teaching me that academics are just as important as athletics. I discovered the hard way about high school socialization, which tends to pull focus away from everything else.
