Amanda Smith '19 Recruiting Profile

The first thing you should know about me is that I am an intensely fierce competitor willing to give 110% effort to achieve success for my team. I'm a strong leader, on and off the court as I've been in student government (since my freshman year in high school), which has given me invaluable experience in teamwork and helped sharpen my raw leadership tendencies.  I am driven in both academics and sports, and even though I'm not super quiet or super loud all the time, I get fired up in a competition! Playing on sports teams since I was four years old (soccer, basketball, volleyball) has helped me become more of a team player:  one of the most challenging lessons for me to learn is that frustration with refs/opponents, although partially justified, does nothing to help my team so I need to be relentlessly focused on staying positive and the "next point."  

As far as my aspirations and goals: my academic/career interests include aerospace/mechanical engineering, aviation and astrophysics.
