My name is Allison Goss and I aspire to play volleyball in, and graduate from, a college. I would love to complete these dreams in order to achieve my goals of one day becoming successful in my job's area of expertise and to coach a High School Varsity Volleyball team. My optimistic and encouraging personality, as well as my ability to lead in many different areas, make me, and has made me, an important aspect to every group or team I have become involved in-on and off the volleyball court. The understanding I have of the sport, fast-thinking, coachability, work ethic, and advanced skills in hitting, blocking, and serving would serve to make me a great candidate for any college volleyball team.
Unlike many athletes, I also happen to excel in academics and have maintained at least a 4.0 gpa starting in Elementary School and continuing through my Junior Year of High School. I am also currently ranked number 1 in my class, now, my Junior year, have a 4.059 gpa, am the Vice President of Owen Valley High School's Youth Board, Recording Secretary of Student Council, President of the Junior Class, captain of my high school varsity volleyball team and have won many academic excellence awards. Although some athletes happen to demonstrate superior abilities in their sports and in academics, my bubbly personality and hard-working character further sets me apart from any other possible college recruit. My sophomore year of high school volleyball, I was awarded the mental attitude award for always staying positive and encouraging others when they get down. When presented with this award, my coach said she believed that it was the most important award to her because, "You can teach skills, but you can't teach attitude and effort." This quote was really important to me, and because of that, I will always continue to play, and live, with a positive attitude. I am a leader on and off of the court, tend to encourage people whenever needed, and have developed a sense for when hard work is appropriate and when it is okay to have fun.
The knowledge I have gained from playing volleyball since third grade has served to make me a better person, a harder worker, a team player, and a leader in every aspect of my life. Volleyball continues to teach me so many important lessons and morals essential to success, and inspires me to put forth every effort to ensure that what needs to be done will be accomplished.
Thank you for your consideration,
Allison Goss
