Personal Statement
In 4th grade, I enrolled in the volleyball after-school program at my school in Bogota, Colombia. Since then, I’ve been committed to volleyball. Moving to the United States in 2018 gave me a whole other opportunity to grow in this field. Three years of club experience in the US were key to improving my conditioning, developing skills, and learning to be a better teammate. I am so grateful for having these experiences, meeting wonderful coaches, and having the opportunity to participate in important tournaments. I’m also thankful for my parents who have been there for me every step of the way. They’re my managers, number one supporters, videographers, and best friends. Now, having to finish high school in the Dominican Republic is a big challenge because being overseas limits the exposure to university coaches in the US. This is no excuse, I never miss a practice and I always give my best. I have a goal in my head: keep my passion for volleyball while completing my academics at college. I have proven that I’m able to perfectly balance academics and sports and I’m confident I will continue to do so as I prepare for my future in college. As a result of living in different countries, I am flexible to adapt to diverse playing and coaching styles which have led me to possess unique skills. I’m eager to continue my volleyball passion while being part of a dynamic team.
