My name is Jordyn Bird. I will be a Senior this fall at Maize High School, Maize, KS, where I have been a setter and defensive specialist for my varsity volleyball squad since my sophomore year. My Freshman year, I earned the spot as the starting setter running a 5-1 on the JV squad. I have played club volleyball for nine years, with the majority of my club years playing for Air Capital ACES and Shockwave Volleyball Club.
I would say I am very "coachable" and a leader both on and off the court. I always demonstrate a positive attitude on the court during practice and games, showing respect for my coaches and teammates. I am always willing to put in that extra work to push myself to be better player than the day before.
I played club ball this past season for Kansas Networks Heights Premier Volleyball Club 17U. We had a great season!
I have played multiple sports since I was five-years-old, but have enjoyed volleyball and running track the most; specifically hurdles. During my 7th grade year, I broke two school records (6-year and 10-year) in the 100-meter and the 200-meter hurdles and medaling ten, 1st place finishes.
In addition to sports, I hold a part-time job at a local chiropractic office as I plan to go into the medical field. I have maintained a 3.7 or higher GPA so far at my time at Maize High, earning my Academic Letters.
I hope to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level.
