Personal Statement
I'm Carley Dark, 17 years old, and I play volleyball at Natchitoches Central High School. I also play for Rocketfuel Volleyball Club in Shreveport, Louisiana.
My freshman year of high school I played and started varsity. At the end of the season I lettered and earned the coach's award. I believe it was my hard work, determination, and the ability to be coached that gave me a successful freshmen year. I knew immediately that I wanted to play volleyball for the rest of my life and bring it with me to the next level of college ball.
Sophomore year I played and started varsity and also lettered. I played club ball for RocketFuel and played on the 16s 1 team. I am a team leader and love to become closer to my teammates and encourage them. I primarily play setter and secondary right side. I also have played defensive specialist making me an all around team player and I am up for anything. I have a nice set, a hard kill, a good accurate pass. I like to focus on strategies and techniques and act out smart ball placement. I strive to do my best and give all I have every practice and game and leave it all out on the court. I have a determination like no other and if I want something bad enough I will get it by working hard and earning it. I enjoy working out at the gym and love being in that kind of atmosphere of doing something good for myself.
Junior year I started varsity and lettered. I made all-tournament in the The North and South Tournament. I made 2nd team all district and my team was in the playoffs. I will play club ball in the spring.
My father was drafted in his third year of college by the Chicago Cubs and pitched in their organization until he tore two rotator cuff muscles and had to stop. I want to follow in his footsteps in becoming such a successful athlete.
In the classroom I work just as hard and make sure to keep my grades high. I want to be pushed on the court and in the classroom and like to face challenges that push me to try harder and see what I am capable of. In college I want to be pushed on the court and classroom and become successful in both. I am very thankful for my parents and coaches for pushing me and believing in me and for making me the person I am today, and would love to one day make them very proud.
