Hi I’m Reese. One of the most important and influential experiences in my volleyball career is when I went to states with my club team my eighth grade year. The first day of states we lost every single game we played, the next day we were going to try to work harder. The next day we won every game we played and won first in the bronze bracket, even though we weren’t in a higher bracket because of our loses the first day, we were going to work hard to win where we were at, which was a major learning experience for me.
I started playing volleyball because my sister played, she would make me practice outside with her as she was learning. She eventually quit, but when I was old enough to start playing she assistant coached every team I played on until I got until highschool. She loved playing volleyball but had a struggle with coaches. She made sure I played as many sports and volleyball teams as I could so I would never give up on volleyball like she did.
Volleyball has taught me many things about myself. One thing it has taught me is how to be a leader, my coach always taught me to yell no matter what. He taught me to make sure everybody knew where I was on the court, what I was doing, and what the other team was doing. This not only helped me in my volleyball career, it helped me in my school, and family life to be more outgoing.
