2019 HighlightsPersonal Statement
My name is Malena Bakritges and I am hardworking and dedicated Volleyball player. I am 16 years old and a sophomore at Champlin Park Senior High School in Minnesota. I will be graduating in 2022.
I was one of the starting setters for the Varsity Champlin Park Volleyball Team (#6). My Team ended a great season with a 20 and 10 season record (2019). I was elected MIP by my peers and Coaches.
Last year (2018) as a freshman I was the starting setter (#10). Our JV Team had only 1 season loss and won 2 out of 3 tournaments (2 first place, 1 second place). I was elected MVP by my peers and Coaches. Varsity Coach John Junkers had me practice with last year's Varsity Team throughout the year. His Team were the 2018 Minnesota Class AAA State Champions.
I was part of the Crossfire Elite Club Volleyball Program since age 10 (5 years on the 1's Team). In 2018, I was the setter for the Crossfire 15-1 Team (#7). This year (2019) I was encouraged by Coach John Yunker to join the Synergy Volleyball 77 Team. I will be the setter for the Synergy 16-1 Team, coached by Kevin Raap.
When it comes to choosing what school, I would like to go to, my options are open. I am open minded about colleges and hope to find a college that fits me best. It doesn't matter about the size or location; if I can receive a good education and play volleyball, I will be happy.
My realistic athletic goals are to continue playing the sport I love at a high competitive level. Another goal of mine is to make an impact on the team and to be a positive role model to young athletes. Knowing at the end of the day that I made a difference and tried my hardest, would keep a smile on my face.
