Personal Statement
I have been very active with sports, music, and art my whole life and I aspire to be a collegiate level athlete. I started playing volleyball in 6th grade while also playing basketball, swim team, and track and field through 8th grade. I started loving everything about volleyball in 9th grade when I played with my high school, the Farmington Tigers. Following the 2019-2020 high school season, I began playing at Northern Lights Volleyball Club as a middle hitter. I was able to compete at a high level and at national tournaments. My team got 3rd place in one of our national tournaments. Unfortunately our season was cut short due to COVID-19, but even though it was short I learned a lot and had a lot of fun with my team.
The experience and skills that I gained with Northern Lights helped me move up to a starting varsity position for the 2020-2021 high school season as a sophomore. Playing varsity this past fall season was an experience I will never forget. I had the opportunity to explore other positions and make great friends. I also had the opportunity to play against several top teams in one of Minnesota's top athletic conferences. I finished the season with 39 kills and 16 blocks.
Currently I am playing with the Northern Lights Volleyball Club for the 2020-21 season and look forward to gaining more experience and skills. Outside of volleyball, I strive for excellence in the classroom. I gain leadership skills by being a 4-H officer in my club. I also compete in track and field and am excited for the upcoming spring season where I will do high jump and running events.
