2024 SpotlightPersonal Statement
I started playing volleyball when I was 11 years old. I broke my arm in gymnastics and I had to have two rods places in my forearm. My arm was healing well when I was asked to tryout for our local club team. I tried out and made the team knowing that I would have another surgery right before season started to remove the rods. After surgery I had stitches in my wrist so I wasn’t able to bump the ball. I started setting and fell in love with the position and have continued that journey.
I’ve had a different coach every year for club ball as well as school ball except for the last two years with school. Every season I’ve had to prove myself to a new coach and show who I am on and off the court. It’s been a struggle sometimes because I’m not the first athlete that gets noticed on the court but I’ve always been able to prove my worth and show my abilities to read the ball and read the defense and was able to secure the starting setter position as a sophomore. I was voted team captain by my teammates my junior year.
I strive to be the best student and athlete I can. I have kept my grades up even with weighted classes and dual credits and I have a current 4.08 GPA. I am involved in many sports, clubs, and volunteer work so I’ve really learned how to manage my time working towards my goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist.
