Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Abigail (Abby) Clark; I am an aspiring student athlete who hopes to continue my sports career in college. I live in a rural farming community just outside of great falls. Growing up, I always saw the significance of togetherness. Whether it was in school, athletics, or other extra curricular activities, everyone put emphasis on the word “team.” Yes, even for school. I always joked that all class C school coaches based a lot of their teachings off of volleyball references or metaphors. But basketball—or any other team sport for that matter—was a huge part of our connections as peers and classmates. I learned my most superb social skills from being around the same people every day. I had to branch out and meet new people sometime, right? And that’s when I started meeting my friends from other petite class C schools much like Fort Benton. I’ve gotten to the age where a lot of those people I have met are now signing to play sports in college. I truly hope that will be me one day soon.
I am genuinely motivated to continually better myself as an athlete AND teammate. In addition to this, I am particularly meticulous about my schoolwork. Even though I am immensely eager to continue a sport in college, (whether it be volleyball, basketball, or track and field) I find it much more important to attend a school where I can study my choice of career; I like to keep my options open. This shows that I am a “go-getter” who always seeks the challenge that will push me to my limits—in academics as well as athletics. I find opportunities to learn from every event or obstacle that I might face, and use my previous experiences for future endeavors.
