Personal Statement

My name is Sydney Munoz, class of 2025. I am a libero and I am featured on the Junior Volleyball Association Player Watchlist.

I have been passionate about volleyball since I was 10 years old when I started as a setter. I joined Silver State Volleyball Club at 12 and played on the 14-1s team. My coach Dana quickly noticed my talent for reading the ball on defense, my incredible hustle, and my passion for the game. I played libero for both years on the 14-1s team. 
I continued playing for Silver State on the 15-1s, 16-1s, and 18-1s teams, where I gained experience as a libero, setter, and outside hitter. My versatility and dedication to improving my skills have been the cornerstone of my development as a player. 

In high school, I made the varsity volleyball team at Reed High School as a freshman. I was recognized for my hitting talent in the front row as an outside and my setting skills. I started every game through my freshman, sophomore, and junior years on varsity, taking on the roles of outside hitter, setter, and libero as needed. Currently, I am playing libero for my senior year at Reed High School. 

My journey has taught me the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and perseverance. I am eager to offer my defensive skills, leadership, and passion for volleyball to a collegiate program. I am confident that my experience and dedication will make me a valuable asset to an athletically and academically competitive college.
