Hello, my name is Hannah Jelley and I am a freshman at Dover High School. Since I was little I have always aspired to do big things and I have always set the bar high for myself as a student and an athlete. Keeping myself busy is something that comes naturally to me from school, to sports, to friends. I work hard to achieve all of my goals and will keep fighting until I achieve them.
Academics are obviously a main concern for a college degree and a career in excellence. I take academics very seriously and it is my first priority. Currently at Dover High I am in all honors classes and one Sophmore class. My GPA is currently a 4.3 and has been above a 4.0 all year. Next year, I have signed up to take all honors classes and the Junior class I will be taking as a sophomore will also be Honors.
Besides academics, volleyball is the most important thing to me. Every day is a new day to learn things and grow as both a teammate and a volleyball player. My position has always been a Right Side hitter because of my dominant hand being my left hand. However, for my freshman year at Dover High School, I had varsity along with 3 other freshman. I played Defensive Specialist for most of the season and it is by far a positon that is my favorite. When I am not playing for High School Season I play for NH Seacoast Volleyball club team. I have been playing for Seacoast for four years now. Each year brings new struggles and heartaches but at the end of the day I am truly happy to be doing what I love most, playing volleyball.
On days I don't have volleyball, I do everything I can to stay in shape and get as much volleyball in as possible. I have a personal trainer that I work with on the weekends that is working on me with my vertical. I have never been the tallest most aggressive person on the court which pushes me to work just as hard to jump as high as they can and to swing aggressively. I also work with a volleyball coach during the week to work on things that I might have had trouble with in practice and to simply get more touches on the ball. Even peppering with friends in my backyard gets me more touches on the ball.
Overall, I work every day to become a better volleyball player and it is so much fun for me. To be able to play in college would make my college life great because I would be able to do something that I love.
