Growing up in a volleyball family, I began playing at a very early age. I was definitely a gym rat because both my parents played, both coached and my older sister played. I traveled with them, went to just about every practice and match when they were coaching and watched my older sister play throughout high school, club and college. Although I learned a lot watching, I played every chance I got, even at the age of 5. I always had someone off to the side or on an open court peppering or working on a certain skill. I was extremely shy as a kid but being on the court was like home and it helped me become more outgoing. Volleyball is just part of who I am.
I am a versatile player who has game knowledge beyond my years and have experience at most positions. I have always been a starter while playing above my age level and thrived on playing with and against older players. I started my career as a libero and moved to outside during the 18-19 season where I could be both an offensive and defensive threat. I have a heavy arm swing and I can read the court well. This club season, I will be a pin hitter AND I will also train as a setter.
Growing up in the game and learning from different perspectives has given me the knowledge and skills to excel, to be coachable, to be a good teammate and to lead. I am a player that can be relied on and I lead by example. I work just as hard during practices as I do during games. I know I have to practice hard so I can play hard during matches. I want the ball when the game is close or when we need that point. I don't shy away from challenges, I welcome them. I know how to learn from mistakes and losses.
I am committed and dedicated to achieving my goals. In order to become a better player and increase my ability to achieve my goals, I participate in extra training sessions through 1-on-1 and small group lessons and I work on improving my speed, strength, endurance, vertical, agility, core and balance. I respect the game and have learned so much from it. I have learned hard work, how to win, how to lose, friendship, confidence, leadership, how to fight through when things aren't going well and most importantly, to just be me. The game has helped me be successful academically, too. My grades show that I work hard, am responsible and can manage my time. I take pride in what I do and I want to do and be my best.
I've always had pretty high goals for myself. I plan to earn a Division I scholarship to play volleyball in college and possibly play professionally after that. I want to play at the highest level possible where I can to contribute to the team's success. I am very fortunate to have a family that supports me in accomplishing my dreams and goals.
