Laura Wilhelm '21 Recruiting Profile

    My name is Laura Wilhelm and I am a 5’9” middle blocker/outside hitter from the class of 2021.  After moving to a new school in seventh grade, I decided that playing volleyball would help me build friendships before the school year started. I worked year-round in eighth-grade and took a starting spot from a senior to step on the varsity court as a freshman. I have now been starting on my varsity team for four years. I have played in three New York State Championships, winning two gold medals and one silver. I have been named to the First Team All Star of my league, All Western NY team, Buffalo News team, and the All State team. I also play for the Octane Volleyball Club where I am a starter, six rotation player, and captain. I am a passionate leader who loves to build up the people around me. With a 4.0 GPA I also place high value on academics. For me, college would ideally be a balance of competitive volleyball, challenging academics, and building life long friendships.
