My first experience with volleyball was trying out for my middle school team after enjoying it in P.E. As my affinity for the sport grew, I gradually gave up softball after playing for 7 years, in order to pursue volleyball. It very quickly became my passion, and playing high school and club only heightened that.
Volleyball has taught me to never underestimate my skills and the importance of being a leader. I have learned to effectively assert myself and that through sheer will and hard work, I can accomplish whatever goals I set.
I am looking for a program that understands my personal emphasis on education, but expects nothing but excellence and effort on the court. I am accustomed to beginning the season as an underdog, working my way to the top and taking the necessary steps to get there. For that reason, I pride myself on my intense work ethic in all aspects of my life. Previous coaches have praised my coachability and tenacity.
Academically, I challenge myself constantly. In high school, thus far, I have taken extremely tough classes with challenging teachers because I've had the desire to constantly learn and enrich myself. This summer I am moving across the country and will continue to set high standards for myself in a new academic environment. I hope to find a volleyball program that reflects my passion for the game and supports my academic ambitions.
