I am a 5’ 7” senior varsity starting middle blocker and occasional outside hitter from Findlay, OH. I have been playing volleyball since the 4th grade and have 2 years of club volleyball experience with the Oiler Attack Club in Findlay. I touch 9’3” on my approach jump, 8’11” on my block jump and have a standing reach of 7’1”. In my sophomore season (2012/13), according to MaxPreps.com, I was ranked 4th overall in the State of Ohio for blocking and 22nd in the USA among sophomores for total blocks. This past season (2013/14) I was ranked 10th overall in the State of Ohio for blocking, and 99th in the USA among juniors for total blocks. Unfortunately, I missed a couple of games this past season due to a health issue. (I had just been diagnosed with a food allergy and testing was still being done.) I believe that if it was not for that my rank would have been much higher. This summer I attended the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Elite Volleyball Camp at Ohio Northern University. I want to continue to improve my athletic skills by playing at a collegiate level because I truly love the game.
In addition to volleyball, I have been a member of the track team for 3 years. I currently hold the St. Wendelin High School girls high jump record of 5’. My goal is to break the record again before I graduate. Along with athletics, I am an active member in my school’s drama program (having performed in 5 productions) and a member of our school quiz bowl team.
Although I take great pride in being an athlete, I am a student athlete and my education comes first. I have earned a 3.95 GPA and have done so while taking as many honors classes as I can. Unfortunately, my school does not currently offer AP courses or I would have been taking those as well. I have also taken classes each semester, beginning my sophomore year, through Owens Community College and will have earned between 25 and 30 hours of college credit by the time I graduate high school. I am a member of the National Honor Society. My current ACT score is 26. My goal for college is to major in psychology and minor in either criminal justice or another law related field. I then intend on pursuing my doctorate in psychology, with the intention of having a career in either clinical or forensic psychology.
Along with academics and athletics, a Christian environment is very important to me. I have attended a private Christian school my entire life and want to continue growing in my faith throughout my college years. Ideally, I would like to study in Ohio, but I am also willing to look into schools that are located in bordering states.
