Personal Statement
Volleyball and school are both very important to me and I would like to continue both at a higher level. I feel that I would be a good addition to a college team because I’m extremely mentally and physically tough and can handle and will enjoy the challenges that come with doing both these activities more vigorously.
I can be very flexible, as I am a setter for my school team and a libero for my club team each year. My team considers me more than capable of both positions. As a libero, I have to be a leader on the court, and take on many responsibilities. I have grown fond of the toughness it takes to play libero and can push through almost any challenge that is put upon me. I’m a natural leader on the court, always talking and encouraging everyone because I know that’s just as important as the game itself. I keep my attitude in check if either me or my teammate makes a mistake, and just erase it from my memory and get my head back in the game.
One of my standout characteristics is that every time I make a mistake, I always want the ball to come to me so I have an opportunity to make up for it. I use my mistakes to better myself. I frequently stay after practice to get more reps in or to speak with my coach on how I can improve. I’m extraordinarily hardworking and driven to give 100% at everything I do all the time. I am very well known for my consistency in everything, especially serving. I am more competitive than is good for me sometimes, and no matter what, I will never give up, no matter how the game is going. I always leave it all on the court, and also will not allow my emotions to drive me towards anger or let it cause me to make a mistake. I always allow what is going on in my life to drive me towards greatness.
