Erica Schiets '15 Recruiting Profile

I am a class of 2015 setter and defensive specialist. I have put in the time and commitment to play at a high level in college. I play for St. Ursula Academy, Toledo, Ohio and at a National level for Toledo Volleyball Club, Toledo, Ohio. My St. Ursula team won the 2013 Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Poll Championship and finished 2nd in the Ohio State Tournament in Division I. My Toledo Volleyball Club team has competed in tournaments in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Florida, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Minnesota . The St. Ursula and TVC programs are highly recognized in the State of Ohio.

I have been blessed with great coaching and wonderful teammates. I have an excellent work ethic, lead by example, have a team first attitude and value positive team dynamics. I am a student of the game and a coaches player with a "never quit" attitude. Communication and interaction with my coach is a very important aspect of my game. As a setter I am able to read and evaluate the correct match ups for my hitters, spread the ball around and keep the opponent guessing. I have had the opportunity to run both a 5:1 and a 6:2. As a setter I prefer to run an up tempo attack. As a defender I have a "nothing hits the floor" mentality. As a server I am able to place the ball as directed by my coach to give us the best service opportunity. This past season, with help from my St. Ursula teammates, I served a 25-0 game during the sectional playoffs. During my club seasons I have had the honor of being named MVP of the ASICS Power League and made the All Tournament Team for the North Coast Power League.

I consider myself to be a double threat when it comes to college programs. When I am not in the gym I am in the classroom. I carry a 4.0+ grade point average with honors classes even with practice or games 6 days a week. I am able to manage my time to be successful on the court as well as excel in the classroom. Volleyball is only a part of who I am. I hope you take the opportunity to get to know the rest of me. I am looking forward to hearing from you. And remember............
