Personal Statement
Volleyball is something I've loved and been very passionate about since I was in the fourth grade. It has always been a goal of mine to be a student-athlete in college and play volleyball.
I currently play school ball for Unicoi County High School and club ball for Tri-Cities Extreme Volleyball in northeast Tennessee. I’m a versatile hitter that can play any position across the net, as well as back row. Some of my accomplishments in volleyball include being captain and MVP of my high school team as well as playing on the top team in my club for the last two years. I would describe myself as coachable, hardworking, and a leader. With these traits, I feel that I can bring a lot to a program. I like to lead by encouraging my teammates and always working hard to win no matter the score. I like to be there for my teammates on and off the court.
While I love volleyball, I place a high value on my education. My interests in school are leading me towards a career in Engineering. My favorite classes are math and chemistry. I’d like to use these skills to help me get my degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Volleyball isn't the only interest I have. I feel it is important to be a well-rounded student. I am the student body secretary and president of the Key Club. In my freshman and sophomore year, I also held class officer positions. I enjoy being involved in my school and participating with the different events. I also help with children's church and do volunteer work around my community.
When it comes to where I want to go to college, I’m not really looking at any one particular area. I love the idea of experiencing completely new places other than where I currently live. The size or the location isn’t an issue for me. I am looking for a college that can meet my academic and athletic needs while offering opportunities to get involved.
Volleyball has given me many opportunities to meet lifelong friends and visit new places. It has also given me hands-on learning experiences about what it takes to be a good leader. I would be happy and honored to get to continue playing the sport I love in college.
