I have played volleyball since 10th grade, and over these three years, I have absolutely fallen in love with the sport! I go to a very small, rural school with a graduating class of 38. Because of the size of our school, our volleyball team has truly become a family and we all have a very close relationship with our coach. I have learned so much about volleyball and feel like my skills have really improved. This last summer, I was able to attend a volleyball camp at Middle Tennessee State University where I worked my top-spin jump serve. During this season, our county newspaper featured a picture and a short article about my impressive serve!
I am from Oakdale, Tennessee and live on a ranch with my family. I have three siblings, two younger brothers and a younger sister, and we all love to play sports and hang out together. On our ranch we have goats, ducks, horses and cows, along with six new calves born last month!
Besides my family life, I am very involved with my community and school as well. I am a member of the Beta club, requiring several volunteer hours, which I complete at various locations in the community and by providing childcare at my church. I have been on the yearbook staff at school for the last three years and through my work with editing and creating ads, I have developed some skill at graphic design. At this point, because I enjoy this type of creativity, I plan on majoring in graphic design in college. I have been involved in student government and have been the class secretary for the last two years. I am also in the drama club and have done make up and back-stage work for four school plays. I have really enjoyed being on a sports team at school and have played softball for the last two years, however my true love is volleyball! I also really enjoy drawing and photography in my free time (when I have some!).
I have been able to maintain good grades in high school and I will have completed four college courses by the time I graduate next Spring. I hope to go to a school where I can pursue a degree in graphic design and play volleyball. I really enjoy being on a team and challenging myself to improve both academically and on the court.
