MaCayla Courtney '18 Recruiting Profile

As a junior at Comanche High School, this is my 7th year playing volleyball. I've been playing since 5th grade, and over the course of the past 2 years I've been playing club volleyball. This year I'm playing with Club Texas, with Coach Lee and Coach Christy.  It's been difficult for me because I've gone from playing with the same girls for 4 years in Montana, to playing for a Texas team that had only been established 1 year prior to my arrival. Although the transition from an experienced program to a new one was challenging, I was able to take part in making history for Comanche. My team won District and Bi-District. This experience has helped me grow and take pride in the accomplishments of what hard work is capable of.

Through this experience of moving schools and states I've grown into a leader who can help encourage my team to keep trying even when times are rough. I'm very thankful that I am able to play volleyball, because it's helped me connect to people with the same drive and passion for the sport as me.
