Defensive Specialist (DS)…Outside Hitter (OH)…Setter…Middle…Defensive Specialist (DS)/Libero…How many players can say they’ve come full circle in the positions they’ve played? I started playing volleyball my 7th grade year, 13’s club year, as a DS. After completing that year, I decided I wanted to give the front row a shot, and put everything I had into training to be a Hitter. I played OH my 8th grade and 14’s club year. 9th grade year, I made the freshman team as a Setter. For my 15’s club year, I played full rotation as OH and DS. I also served as Team Captain of my club team. I made the JV team my sophomore year, as a Middle and Setter. I was much honored to have been pulled up to varsity for play-offs, as a DS. For my 16’s club season I started the season playing as OH. During the course of the season, I came to realize that due to my height, being an OH was probably not in my future, therefore I began the transition to DS. For Post Season play, I played DS and Libero with Texas Triumph at the 2015 AAU Jr Nationals, playing up in the 17 Club division.
Since I started playing volleyball my 7th grade year, I’ve come full circle. With a lot of hard work and dedication, I have become an all-around player, who can step into any position…I have “hops”, which help me “get up there” when I’m on the front row, and I’m quick and limber which help me “dig it up” on the back row.
Along with playing volleyball, I played tennis my freshman year, and ran track my sophomore year. I’m also a member of the FFA and FBLA.
Outside of volleyball, I love horses and animals. My family owns a large working cattle ranch, where I have had the opportunities to work during the summer. Having the opportunity to work on the ranch has provided me with the ability to be introduced to animals – from birth to death. Between my love for sports and love for animals, as well as my interest in science, I have come to realize that I am drawn to a career in one of these fields – sports medicine/trainer, or veterinary medicine.
My goal is to play volleyball in college. I am a hard worker, have participated in many camps over the past few summers (including the Texas A & M and Tarleton State University camps), as well as given up much time during my Christmas breaks to participate in volleyball camps. I can play multiple positions, which would make me a great member to any team.
