Personal Statement

My name is Laurissa Zavala and I live in The Colony, Texas.  I will graduate from The Colony High School in 2018.  Currently I am a Junior on the Varsity team.

My Freshman year I was a starter for the Freshman A-team as a middle hitter.  My sophomore year I played as a middle and outside hitter for the JV team.  During my Sophomore year, I was voted "Outstanding Hitter" for our JV-Team.  My Junior year I was a starter for the Varsity team as a middle and outside hitter.  I was chosen for the 2016 UIL All-District 2nd-Team and 2016 All-District All Academic Team.

I have been playing volleyball since the 5th grade and club volleyball since the 8th grade.  I have also played soccer and club basketball, but decided to stay with volleyball full-time in 2013.

In 2013-14, I was a middle hitter for Force Volleyball Club in Plano, Texas with Coach Michelle.  In 2014-15, I was the starting middle hitter for Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club in Frisco, TX with Coach Josh.  I am currently playing right side and middle hitter for Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club with Coach Kristi.  In 2016-2017 I will be playing for Attack Volleyball in Lewisville, TX.

I am very competitive.  I would be a great asset in competitive volleyball because I always respect my teammates and coaches.  I ask questions and I pay attention to what they say.   I try to encourage my teammates to do their best.

I am an A-honor roll student and love school.  I am very interested in the medical field, mainly sports medicine.   I currently help our sports trainer in the mornings and some evenings with players needing therapies.   I would love to play volleyball in college while I earn my degree.

Thank you for looking over my profile.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
