Lindsey Kimler '11 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'6" senior setter for the Dugway High School Mustangs in Dugway, Utah and volleyball is my passion. In 9th grade I earned the starting setter position for our varsity team and held that postion through this last season. Over the last four years, I have been selected twice to our All-Region 1st team; twice Honorable Mention All-State (1A); and twice 3rd Team All-State (1A). I would have loved to play club volleyball, but the remoteness of where I live precluded it. To ensure I stayed in shape, I supported my school by participating in cross-country (1-yr), basketball (3-yrs), and track (3-yrs) and attended multiple setter and all-skills camps for volleyball during the summer. As a senior with more mobility I will try to locate a club team this year. If not, I will continue to support my school in basketball and track. Having talked to other players and coaches, I am coming to find out that my lack of club volleyball may be a handicap in the recruiting process. However, I am comfortable saying that if you talked to my coach or others who ran camps I attended, they will tell you that my love of the game and desire to be the best I can be; along with my work ethic and coachability can offset this shortcoming. I am the first in my immediate and close family to pursue athletics at the college level. The recruiting process has been an eye-opener and I realize that I have started the process late. However, I still want to pursue playing competitive athletics and am open to explore opportunities at all divisions. I am looking for a college where I can obtain a degree in early childhood education. Although I live in Utah, I am an independent person willing to go where an opportunity presents itself. A Christian environment would be ideal, but not necessary. It is important to me that I am able to receive personal attention in the classroom.
