Personal Statement
Hello, My name is Chloe Niel and I live in Eltopia, Wa. I am currently a junior at Connell High School. Growing up in “Small Town USA” has fostered my love for being outdoors as well as for agriculture. I love to ride 4 wheelers/side by sides, go camping, raise pigs and a few years ago I started deer hunting. I have worked for local hay farmers, operating different kinds of equipment and implements. I have raised and shown pigs in 4H and FFA. A dream of mine would be to own and operate my own farm one day.
I am interested in playing competitive volleyball in college while I earn a degree in Agriculture. I have played club volleyball for over 5 years. As a freshman, I earned a varsity spot on my high school team. I was a “starter” as a sophomore and was chosen as team captain my junior year. During that year, I ranked first on my team in kills and blocks while leading our team to our first state berth in over 10 years. I was also voted MVP by my teammates and was awarded First Team All-League by other coaches in our league. Volleyball has always been a motivator of mine, to keep up with my school work as well as to stay out of trouble. Having an opportunity to continue to play in college would be a huge asset to me in successfully obtaining a college degree.
In my years at Connell High School, I have also played Varsity Softball, gone to the State Convention for Novice Parliamentary Procedure in FFA and sing in our school’s choir. I am very involved in school activities and have a good relationship with my teachers. I have taken a variety of honors and college level classes while maintaining a 3.66 GPA.
Growing up in a small town has taught me that being active in my community is very important. During the Covid pandemic, I have volunteered to help distribute food at our local food distribution. Each Christmas I take time to wrap presents for local families in need in our area. I also volunteer at the Columbia Basin Junior Livestock Show at the buyers dinner each year. Recently, I have helped my family put on a community “Bingo Night” to raise money for our new fieldhouse.
I am excited to start preparing for the next stage of my volleyball career and I look forward to hearing from you!
