Personal Statement
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” This quote describes my attitude throughout my years so far of being a Student-Athlete. As an eighth grader, I made my first club team and got introduced to actual competition. The adrenaline rushes, bonds with teammates, and explosive roars of victory that I experienced in my first tournament made me realize that I wanted volleyball to be in my life permanently. However, my passion inside didn’t match my performance on the court. I wasn’t granted a lot of playing time due to my inexperience and lack of technique compared to others in my position. After the season ended, I got serious and over the next two years trained rigorously and ended up making my high school JV team and a new club team as a starter for both. I also started taking harder classes at school and got into a college running start program. With completing this program, I’ll have my associate degree by the time I graduate high school. I never want to stop improving or find a limit for myself. College volleyball is a goal that I plan on scoring. I know that with my coachability, positive attitude, and passion for the sport I would make a great addition to your team.
