Personal Statement
I love everything about volleyball. Every time I walk into a gym, my goal is to be the hardest worker and to be the player who has the most fun. I find hard work, challenging competition, team-development, and winning to be fun. I am 100% dedicated to the game and to reaching my potential as a player, and I lead by example. I am willing to work for the lofty goals I set for myself and for my team.
Volleyball has always been the perfect sport for me because, since I was a little girl, I've always excelled at things that required jumping high, and arm strength. I've always been an excellent jump roper, and people are amazed that I can walk on my hands up and down the street! I fell in love with the sport of volleyball during my middle school years. I was only in 6th grade, but loved watching the girls jump, hit and block. I tried out for my school's team, having never played before, but I was cut. It was devastating. However, my father said to me, "This is life lesson for you...if you want to play on a team, learn the sport, become the best you can be at it, and try again." That's exactly what I did! I worked hard during the off-season and came back as a 7th grader to try out again. Not only did I make the team, but the coach said I was now the school's BEST player. Volleyball has taught me that dedication, practice, and hard work pay off. Outside of volleyball, I love to sing. I've won awards with my school's choir team, and I've even been invited to sing the national anthem before school sports events!
In college, I would love to continuing playing volleyball competitively while I pursue a degree in computer science/Information Technology. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I have the character and work ethic to impact a program right away, and I'm very excited about about what the future holds!
