Growing up going to a private school got me a headstart on sports, beginning in 3rd grade. Compared to the public schools in my area, they start school athletics in 7th grade. I transferred to Bartels Middle School in 6th grade. When the first couple practices came along, I realized how much of an advantage I had by starting sports earlier on than the majority of my teammates. I used it as an opportunity to take on the role of a leader. Throughout the years of playing sports, I have not only become a leader, but I became the determined, hardworking, and confident student-athlete and person I am today. People have always told me that my height would make it hard for me to succeed in sports. Hearing that has made me strive to work harder and has given me so much inspiration to prove these common stereotypes wrong.
