Olivia Gutierrez '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi! my name is Olivia Gutierrez, my teammates call me “OG”. I am a junior at Bonita Vista High School In Chula Vista, California. Having grown up in Chula Vista which is aproximitly 15 min from the US/Mexican border I grew up understanding that being bi- lingual and bi-cultural is one of the greatest assets one can have. I attended Spanish/ English bi-lingual schools since preschool. I have been playing waterpolo since I was 8 years old. My love for the water started at a very young age. I started surfing at 5 years old. This past year I made the high school surf team and have been competing in WSA Division 1 Scholastic Surf Series events in San Diego, ranking #4 for the D1 Scholastic High School Series. People that knew my family suggested for me to play waterpolo because of my passion for the water. I joined South Coast Waterpolo Club when I was 8 years old, now known as Costa Del sur waterpolo club. I played on their 10u, 12u, 14u, and 16u. This past year I made the switch to San Diego Shores Waterpolo club making the 16u A team in order to further develop my skills. In addition, I’ve played varsity waterpolo and swim at my high school since freshman year. During my freshman year I am proud to say that I helped my team win the CIF San Diego Section 2022 D-III finals. This was the first time in my high school’s history. This past year, we worked very hard as a team and again made it to the CIF San Diego Section 2023 D-II finals, finishing runner-up. During this game I was awarded by the CIF commission the sportsmanship award for my team. I absolutely love playing waterpolo and my ultimate dream would be to play at the collegiate level. I have worked hard to balance both academics and waterpolo sustaining a 4.11 GPA. I pride myself to being a positive addition to any team and build up my teammates at any place I can.  Thank you for your time,
