Personal Statement
My name is Emily Skipworth, and I have been playing water polo since the summer going into my Freshman year at Leigh High School. Prior to high school league, I played for the Silicon Valley Outlaws, qualifying and playing in JO's in 2019. Now I play for San Jose Express Water Polo. I am a 2022 graduate, playing Utility/Hole Set, and this year due to Covid we had a 6 game short season. I was also the team captain in our high school inaugural season. I was the leading scorer on my team, with a record of 25 goals and 12 assists finishing our inaugural season 4-2. Before I discovered my love for the sport, I swam competitively and played basketball for school. Now, I am a multi sport varsity athlete. When I first started playing polo, my coach said I "had swimmers feet and basketball hands," and I picked up the sport very quickly. Sports have been a very impactful part of my life, and have shaped me into the person I am today. They've taught me the importance of teamwork, trust, responsibility, and equality; along with individual work ethic, determination, and integrity, which are all values in which I carry throughout my everyday life. I am looking to play collegiate water polo in support of my educational goals, and aspirations of a bio/medical career path. I am determined, I am willing, I am Emily Skipworth.
