My dream is to play water polo in college. I have now played for three years. My freshman year I started on the JV team and was moved up to Varsity mid-season. I worked hard both in-season and during the off months to get stronger, faster, and to develop my skills. I went to clinics and camps to get better. I tried out for the Midwest Zone ODP team at the beginning of my sophomore year and I made it. My hard work was rewarded as I was selected for First Team honors in both the Conference and Sectional Tournaments, and then selected to the All-State team as a Sophomore. I was awarded those same honors as a Junior, as well as being named the Conference Defensive Player of the Year. My team won our Conference and Sectional championship and made the state tournament for the third consecutive year. Last summer, my high school club team won the American Water Polo National State Challenge, and I led the team in assists and steals. This past winter I was one of 48 athletes selected from around the country to participate at the USA Water Polo National All-Star tournament in Livermore, California in March of 2018. I know that I have so much more to accomplish and many areas to improve, and I plan to keep going to camps and making the most of every opportunity presented to me. I have gone to numerous camps already this summer, and listen to every critique, push myself on every drill, and continue to learn the game. This hard work led to an invitation to spend nearly a month training with the Hungarian National Team this summer with Coach Laszlo Hruza, the best coach I have ever had. I had a wonderful experience there, and was honored to be the #2 overall goal scorer, missing the top honor by only 1 goal, in a tournament with 5 other European teams.
I always give my very best in my studies as well. I push myself academically and have taken a full Honors/ AP Program course load beginning with my Freshman year and have maintained Gold Honors every semester of high school. My course load this semester includes three AP classes and three Honors courses. I believe that nothing worthwhile is ever easy, and that if you are going to do something, always give it everything you've got. I want to be well prepared for college academics, so I have chosen the classes that will challenge me the most. I truly believe that my work ethic and drive will allow me to excel in both the classroom and the pool at the next level.
