I started swimming at the age of 7. My mom was a swimmer and she was so excited that I wanted to swim and I was following in her footsteps. When I became 10 my friend started to play water polo and wanted me to try it with her. I wanted to experience new things so I decided to do it. At first, I was playing water polo just because my friend was, but then soon began to love the sport each time I played it. I suddenly had the urge to want to get better and improve my skills. My parents didn't understand what water polo was and were learning the sport just like I was. Going into my freshman year to play water polo, I was very nervous and started to doubt myself a lot. My coach saw potential in me and gave me a spot on the Varsity team. My coach tells me all the time that my smile could make anyone’s day better and she relies on me to give someone a pep talk if they don’t feel like they are doing good enough. From there she's taught me new skills and made me the player I am today. My dad is definitely my number one fan and my biggest role model. He raised two girls by himself. He is one of the most kindhearted souls I know. He has never missed one game of mine and I never want to let him down. When I have a bad game he's always right beside me telling me that I'll get them next time and to keep my head up because it's not the end of the world, everyone has a bad game sometimes. He is very supportive of me and I am so thankful for everything he has done for me in this sport. I have grown connections with my teammates that I will have for a lifetime. Before every game we always give each other pep talks to make ourselves less nervous and more excited to play. This sport made me the player and person I am today and it will hold a special place in my heart forever. Over the years I've decided that I am capable of playing at a college level and I want to play waterpolo in college. I want to have a connection with my team like I do in high school season. A team I can call my family. I strive to get better and I don’t give up until I accomplish what I want to get done. I like to listen to feedback from not only my coaches, but my teammates as well. I am looking for a college that I can call home away from home. My biggest accomplishment would be receiving All-State Second Team as a Junior. Academics wise, I am looking for a school that has a great program for what I want to major in. I am interested in studying psychology or to be some sort of therapist. I know is that I want to work with people and help them feel better about themselves.
