Hello! My name is Ava Wells and I am currently a junior in High School. I started playing water polo my freshman year and instantly knew it was something I wanted to pursue at the collegiate level. I have been a starter since my freshman year and I generally play flat and center defense.
I have strong game awareness, communication skills, various technical skills- such as ball handling and a strong shot, as well as good defense- along with mental determination. I try to be a good leader and a welcoming teammate. I strive to be a coachable player and am always looking to improve my playing abilities.
In the off-season, I compete for my schools varsity swim team. I qualified for Districts (the second to last tier of the championship season) my freshman year, and qualified for States (last tier) my sophomore and junior year. When swim season is complete, I play for my local club water polo team to keep water polo fresh.
Outside the pool, I am a determined and focused student- I receive good grades and maintain a high GPA. I currently participate in the Full International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB). I chose this path because I enjoy challenges and wanted to prepare for an academically rigorous college experience.
