Personal Statement
From a young age I have been interested in all sports, but my love for baseball is far beyond any of the others. I have learned many things from playing baseball, most importantly, how to handle myself mentally. I learned early on that you must have self control and discipline to play this sport, and I think this has changed me for the better. Something else I learned was how to be a supportive and encouraging temmate to those who are wearing the same jersey. One of my coaches once told me to represent the name on the back of my jersey, but to play hard and fight for the name on the front. I have come to understand that the game is bigger than me. Being a teammate does not stop on the field, and being a student does not stop in the classroom.
One trait that I think sets me apart as a player and person is that I like to get to know lots of people. I think that helps them feel comfortable around me as well. I feel that the sooner people gel together, the sooner they can get something done. When the team gels on the field you can come together, compete for each other, and push one another to be better. It is important for me to feel comfortable with the people around me. It is a must for me to get to know them personally so we create more of a connection with each other.
