I recently made the decision to quit soccer (which I played for 10 years) and join crew at the beginning of the 2019 fall season. Joining crew has since proved to be the best decision I've ever made, and I have developed a great passion for it. Even after my first winter season, I am still completely sure that rowing in college is my biggest dream.
My most recent 2k was completed with a core of 8:09.9, which was a 15.7 second PR from my previous 2k. Despite the lack of a competitive environment as a result of COVID-19 regulations, I was still able to PR on my own at home. I fully intend to go sub 8 minutes next season, sub 7:40 by the end of high school, and I know my 2k time will continue to drop as I continue to row (and as I develop more experience with 2k's). In order to improve my 2k time in the future, I plan on doing weight training on a daily basis, in addition to erging, as well as adding more endurance based training (running & jump-roping) to my schedule.
Both in the boat and in the classroom, I am extremely hard working, focused, a natural leader, and uplifting towards my peers. I have a big personality, and I can quickly form a bond with anyone. What truly sets me apart from other rowers is my willingness to try, fail, and learn from my mistakes, as well as my adaptivity and self-awareness. Additionally, I have unique backgrounds in soccer and archery, which have taught me about failure, hard work, and how to be a well rounded team player.
When I set my mind on something, I put in the work to achieve it, and I do not give up. Rowing in college has become my goal, and I am more than willing to put in the work necessary to get there.
