Hello! My name is Madison Díaz, and I am a senior at Lee Williams High School. My dream is to become a veterinarian. Being a veterinarian has been a dream of mine ever since I moved to Arizona and got my first set of livestock. Throughout this personal statement, I will be introducing myself and talking about my years in high school, answering the question “Why veterinarian and what got me started on this dream career,” and my interests.
I have participated in sports and volunteering throughout high school. Freshman year, I volunteered at Kingman Regional Medical Center and worked in three departments. I worked at the front desk, gift boutique, and surgery check-in. Sophomore year I participated in athletics, and I played basketball and track and field. Junior year I participated in wrestling and volunteered. I coached K-8th grade with Mohave Greens Wrestling team. At the end of my junior year and summer I was contacting Mohave Community College counselors and started my certificate for Phlebotomy. Senior year, I am in flag football, wrestling, and completing college courses.
This dream, Veterinarian has been a dream of mine since I can remember. Animals have brought me joy, especially when I got my first pet and every first kind of animal along the way, I created a bond with. That look on my face as a child and even now was the biggest smile and the best friendships I created. I always say it was magical and learning how to care for them, treat them, and train them as a child opened my eyes and gave me a spark. Whenever I get asked the question, “why veterinarian?”, I answer, “Animals have brought me joy and, in my way, to say thank you through my heart for those amazing friendships, is by giving every pet a second chance in any possible way I can”. Giving pets love and attention gave me a magical bond that I could never imagine, through my mind and heart.
I am interested in an army ROTC program and a veterinary program. I also would like to join a sorority club in the future through as well as being in athletics. I also am interested in being an on-campus student as much as housing on campus as well. The Veterinary Science Bachelor degree is what I would like to pursue and then my doctorates degree of Veterinary Medicine in the future.
