Personal Statement
My name is Gabriel Otero. I am a 17 year old senior at Lee Williams High School in Kingman, Arizona. I have been playing soccer for thirteen years recreationally and competitively for eight. Through the years, I have won many tournaments at a competitive level with my team. Also, I have been in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for four years, playing for the state of Arizona for one year and for Nevada the last three. I have played varsity high school soccer for all three years so far and was a captain last year. The last two seasons I was awarded with MVP as well as being runner-up for all-region player last season. I have played midfield my entire life with the attacking-mid being my main position. My secondary position is left or right wing. Playing the 10 last season, I had 17 goals and 7 assists.
I also excel academically, pertaining a 4.0 GPA throughout middle school and high school. I have never had worse than an A and I plan on keeping it that way while finishing up my last year. I was in the Cambridge Program my freshman year and I am now enrolled in Dual Credit courses. While soccer is a huge priority of mine, so is my education. I believe that your school is a good fit for me athletically, academically, and just as a human being.
I am determined to reach my goals in soccer and I am very focused on doing what is necessary to achieve those goals. One of the steps on achieving them, is getting into the right college with the right program. I need a program that fits me athletically, as well as academically. I need a program that will push me to be the best I can possibly be, on and off the field.
