My name is Zack Murillo, and I want to be a national champion at the collegiate level. This has been a goal of mine for all of my life now, and everything that I've done has been to aid this goal.
I have worked hard as a student so I could be accepted into a college that could help me achieve my goals. I am an exceptional student being ranked 39 out of 485 in my class which is very good. I have not had a easy schedule throughout my high school career. Even in my sophomore year I doubled up on math (Geometry and Algebra II) in order for me to take calculus before I leave HS. As each year progressed, I have worked harder to get better grades. I went from being ranked 94th in my class to now 39th. I believe that my academic potential has not been reached and I believe that I can excel at the college level.
My perfectionist attitude also transitioned into my world of wrestling. I am always the last person off the mat if I need assistance in a particular set of moves, or reiterating a technique that I know I need to work on. I practice 3x a week (with club team in offseason) and compete on the weekends all year round, and when I'm not on the wrestling mat, I'm at the gym working out, and doing homework. That is why I have a passion for this sport, it has taught me so much, and I want to continue my passion for this sport as long as I can.
In the past few years I have racked up a few accolades which I am happy about, but I know I can do better so, I want to triumph them. In 2013, I took 2nd in the 2013 Cadet Freestyle nationals, in 2014, I took 3rd in the FILA cadet nationals, and 2nd in the 2014 Junior Greco and Freestyle nationals. But, I will use these accolades to fuel my desire for becoming a National champion at the collegiate level.
I am very easy to coach and a very relatable person, So I believe, with all my success in the sport, and in my academics I would be a perfect fit for a college team.
