Personal Statement

Hello,

I'm Marco Meneses. If you find my last name a tongue-twister, just say "men" and then combine "eses" – MEN-es-es. There you go! Anyway, I am confident in my abilities and discipline to excel in college-level wrestling. My love for this sport ignited from day one, and it has since become my passion. Every club session, practice, match, and tournament fuels my enthusiasm. That nervous excitement I feel before stepping onto the mat is something I thrive on – arguably the best feeling, second only to indulging after a 10lb weight cut. I am dedicated to improvement and embrace the challenge of learning from failures. A prime example is the latest tournament I was at the Super 32 tournament – a competition as tough as nails. While I entered with excitement, I departed with disappointment, dissatisfied with my performance. Lately, my mindset has been a struggle. Those matches from my recent matches I fell short of my best, but I am acutely aware of the areas I must address. And address them I will. I intend to engage in live wrestling sessions with the best, refining my skills and embracing calculated risks. I will step into each practice with a defined goal, adhere to my calisthenics routine, infuse each gym session with unwavering intensity, and ensure that every workout has a purpose, all while wrestling smart. My aspiration is to better myself daily, to push my limits relentlessly. Thank you, and my best wishes to whoever is reading!

Best regards, Marco Meneses
