My name is Jordan Ruedi. From an early age, my parents introduced me to martial arts like jiu-jitsu to learn self-defense, mainly cause I was heavily bullied during this time of my life not so much doing the sport for the sport itself. When I got into middle school, I was able to watch and work with the high school wrestling team as a manager, this sport along with the people in it has made me the man I am now. The brotherhood/family culture that these guys impacted me with changed my school experience and helped me grow in confidence, character, as an athlete, as a student, and as an overall person. Since then, I have dreamed about being a state champion like some of my high school teammates. This season I was able to take NC State gold in Freestyle and Greco-Roman. In my senior year, I hope to add gold in Folkstyle to my accomplishments. I am super excited about wrestling at the collegiate level. I have participated in a few prospect camps and have been very encouraged by the like-minded work ethic and focus of college-level athletes. My peers at high school say my work ethic seems insane and that wrestling is too hard. Can't blame them, for it's arguably the hardest sport out there. But with my team, club, at tournaments, and even camps I’m surrounded by athletes like me, and it helps me feel normal. I get excited at these events and want to push even harder. Wrestlers are a different kind of athlete; the kind of athlete I know I can be. I know with confidence I can push myself to places I never thought I could. It would be an honor to sew into a program at the college level, and I will be honored to give them my all. I look forward to the right opportunity.
Sincerely,
Jordan Ruedi
